9-30-10 Red light camera program fails to deliver by city's own standards
City spokesperson repeats arguments usually made by the red light camera company when confronted with rising accidents at camera locations like we reported on our home page. The claim is the cameras are there to reduce the deadliest "t-bone" accidents caused by red light runners. (in other words, just look at the accidents the city wants to talk about). The problem is, in Baytown this year, the BPD reported to TXDOT that red light related t-bone accidents climbed 37%. This statistic was confirmed as accurate in the 8-24-10 video by the chief of police. If the children's hospital doesn't like t-bone accidents do they really support Baytown's program?
